Beautiful Cano Cristales River – Pictures

Cano Cristales (The Chrystal River), local people call it the river of five colors. The water in this river is so clean so you could see the bottom of it with all it’s beautiful colors. There are no fish in this river because of the complexity of it’s channel. There are five colors: yellow, blue, green, black and red. All of them are produced by the life of different kinds of algae, and the saturation of these colors changes depending on the season from brightest to dim.

This river is also known as the most beautiful river in the world, and it’s not easy to get there too, just to take a look at this beauty. You need to take a flight from Vilvisensio to Macarena (Columbia), then by the boat, and afterwards by feet until you reach this river. Cristales is 100 kilometers long and 20 meters wide, and it’s not that large comparing to Amazon. But it’s unusual color spectrum makes it so unique among the other rivers…

Machu Picchu, Peru (A Wonder of the World)

Machu Picchu (1460-1470). In the 15th century, the Incan Emperor Pachacútec built a city in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu (“old mountain”). It is located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level. It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. This extraordinary settlement lies halfway up the Andes Plateau, deep in the Amazon jungle and above the Urubamba River. It was probably abandoned by the Incas because of a smallpox outbreak and, after the Spanish defeated the Incan Empire, the city remained ‘lost’ for over three centuries. It was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911.
